I am an Arup Fellow and lead Arup’s global lighting design practice. As member of our Regional Board and Arup University Council, I also have an oversight role in foresight, research, learning, skills, knowledge, innovation and ventures in the UK, India, Middle East and South Africa.
My particular expertise in daylight, visual perception and holistic lighting approach play a key role in many of my projects, from museums to airports, bridges to city precincts all over the world. I was responsible for delivering a range of lighting projects for the London Olympic Games 2012. I have a strong interest in visual light art as a lighting designer and has collaborated with a number of artists and architects on public realm projects including Anish Kapoor’s ArcelorMittal Orbit in London, the World’s Largest Timepiece along Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich and the Dongdaemun World Design Plaza in Seoul.
My recent projects of significance include the V&A Design Museum Dundee, the British Museum World Conservation Centre, The Hepworth, King’s Cross Station in the UK; Tai Kwun Centre of Heritage and Arts, Hong Kong International Airport Midfield Concourse Terminal and the Stonecutters Bridge in Hong Kong and The Acropolis in Athens; California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas and the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto.
I was named the Lighting Designer of the Year at the UK Lighting Design Awards in 2013. I am also the recipient of the Lighting Award from the Society of Light and Lighting in 2014.
In recognition of my achievements, I was appointed Arup Fellow in 2014.
I studied Engineering to the Masters level at University of Cambridge, followed by Masters studies at UCL Bartlett School of Architecture in Light and Lighting.
