The NBI Partnership provides non-scientific services to the John Innes Centre (JIC), Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), Earlham Institute (EI) and The Sainsbury Laboratory (TSL). All of these organisations carry out scientific research funded by the UK Government, European Union, Charitable and Industrial Sponsors. The Partnership employs around 140 staff to cater for the needs of approximately 1100 Research Staff, Students and Visiting Scientists who are all located in close proximity on the Norwich Research Park.
My role within the Norwich Bioscience Institute Partnership is Operational Services Manager, managing the Hard FM part of the facilities team, looking after a team of approximately 25. The Hard FM team consist of mechanical, electrical, equipment services and buildings workshops, who are responsible for all mechanical, electrical electronics, equipment services and site wide infrastructure on behalf of the 4 institutes based at the Norwich research Park.
I’ve been working at NBIP for approximately 10 years having worked in the construction industry for 22 years previous to this. My role at NBIP apart from managing the team, is to manage energy, utilities, H&S of the team and providing technical support for the ongoing capital projects and future investment schemes.
In my spare time I enjoy running, and have complete multiple races over the last 10 years, from 5K, to marathon, and once completed a 50mile ultra marathon in the Lake District.
